heartache

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
love leaves a memory no one can steal.
– From a headstone in Ireland

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4

ne’er forget

This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world: the battle is not done:
Jesus Who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and Heav’n be one.
Maltbie Babcock

But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.         Pslam 59:16

thirst

When one is thirsty one quenches once’s thirst by drinking, not by reading books which treat of the condition. Jean Pierre de Caussade

But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” John 4:14

Return

He that never changes his opinions, never corrects his mistakes, and will never be wiser on the morrow than he is today.      Tyrone Edwards

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.     Isaiah 55:6-7

judge not

None of us has ever seen a motive. Therefore, we don’t know we can’t do anything more than suspect what inspires the action of another. For this good and valid reason, we’re told not to judge.

Tragedy is that our attention centers on what people are not, rather than on what they are and who they might become.”  Brennan Manning

Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Mathew 7:1-2
